The United Muslim Students Association is based on a system in order to react quickly to any given situation while ensuring the input of all MSAs is taken and respected. UMSA is not an organization to control the MSAs; it has in fact been created to serve the MSAs.

Council
The Council is composed of the leadership of the various MSAs, with 3 representatives from each MSA. The Council meets about once or twice a semester with the executives and the UMSA President. The group works on a consensus based decision-making process.

Executives
The Executive is appointed and mandated by the MSAs to perform various tasks in order to move forward the cause of Muslims. They are the heads of each committee and play a significant role in the work of the MSAs. They attend the meetings with the council and have an exec meeting once or twice a semester as well.

Advisors
The Advisors group forms the reference point for UMSA. It is composed of 2 or 3 shuyukh whose advice is sought pertaining to issues of halaal and haraam, as well as for general issues. It is also composed of other members who may have helpful advice.

Committees
The Committees are under the responsibility of the executives and are all formed by members of the various MSAs. Some are temporary, while others are permanent. This is where UMSA's heart lies.
